About University Tire and Auto Centers

University Tire and Auto Centers is a tire shop in Charlottesville, Virginia. It is listed at 140 Newhouse Dr, Charlottesville, VA 22911, which places it among the local businesses of Charlottesville that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by. Google also lists it under auto repair shop, which is worth knowing if you are comparing several options in the area.

Tire shops sell and install new tires, patch punctures, balance wheels and, at most locations, align the suspension. Prices are quoted per tire plus mounting, balancing, valve stems and a state disposal fee for the old set; many shops price-match and include free rotation and flat repair for the life of the tire. Used tire shops sell inspected take-offs for a fraction of the price of new ones, useful for an older car or a single replacement, but check the tread depth (4/32 inch or more) and the DOT date code, since rubber ages even on the shelf. Mobile tire services come to your driveway or the roadside, commercial shops handle semi, trailer, farm and off-road tires, and wheel shops repair and refinish bent or curb-scraped rims.

Hours are published for 5 days a week. The most common schedule is 7 am–6 pm. Note that it does not open on Saturday, Sunday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (434) 979-2300. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is universitytireandauto.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

It was the worse experience of my 59.8 years on this earth. Went to get an inspection, they told me I needed front brakes to pass inspection. Price was $904, out of that about $184 was fluid exchange. The initial report given did not say that was just a recommendation on $184. I got that notification when I balked on the repair., got a rejection sticker. Went to another auto shop was told, don't need brakes. Called the state trooper recommended another auto shop to verify. Well they read the report and also said brakes not needed. The trooper directed me back to U-tire, they put the sticker on passed. The tech then stated you will need brakes in 12 months. Well, today is what matters to pass the inspection, not 12 months, might not have the car in 12 months. Two of the three staffers were mad as heck, mainly Lil Al. They still charged me the $1 even though now work was needed. Also refused to take ownership. Don't go to any of the university tire and auto location. Poor service, stinky attitude, over priced, can't be trusted. This is after 28 years being a client. I will never go there again. Also, the technician said did not care about the survey. Man way to respond to a 28 year

Fair price, quick to get an appointment and fast turnaround. Friendly and helpful staff. Shuttle if you aren’t far. Overall, great experience. Highly recommend!

Had a trailer tire blow out on I-64 East and had to throw on a spare. We were recommended University Tire by A-1 Towing and they were able to fit us right in. Hour and a half later we’re continuing on to our destination with 4 new trailer tires without breaking the bank. From start to finish everyone was courteous and friendly, and I would definitely recommend them to friends and family. 10/10 experience.

They service our fleet vehicles as well as my personal cars. The service has always been great. The guys who work there do their best to make sure to inform us of the cost and how long the service will take before working on the vehicles. Prices are higher than some other guys in this area but you get what you pay for and I don't mind paying a little bit more for the better service.

I cannot honestly say enough good things about this company! They are so friendly and professional that I just refuse to have my car serviced anywhere else and I live 60 miles away from this shop! I’m an old man and one thing I’ve learned in life if you have a good mechanic, you better stay with them! Thank you so much University tire and auto for all that you do for me man. I appreciate you guys. My car is almost antique, and look! Still runs like new!
